White House Correspondents Dinner Comedian Amber Ruffin Tells CNN’s Jake Tapper: ‘No One Wants’ Trump to Show Up

White House Correspondents Dinner host Amber Ruffin said “no one” is looking forward to President Donald Trump attending the black tie event.

On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked if Trump plans to attend the event — with the questioner noting that Ruffin once called Trump “a toddler with his pants pulled down.”

“When he makes his decision, I will let you all know, but definitely an interesting choice of the comedian,” Leavitt replied.

During an interview with CNN anchor Jake Tapper on Wednesday, Ruffin noted that Trump would be “missing out” if he decides to skip the dinner again. Ruffin then ended her comment by claiming she does not think anyone is “looking forward” to being in the same room as Trump.

TAPPER: So US presidents traditionally attend this dinner. However, Donald Trump never went to it during his first term in office. Do you want him to be there this year?

RUFFIN: No. Don’t anybody want to know…No one wants that. Sure, it’s something to do. But, I can’t imagine he would. I can’t imagine he would. He should. He’s missing out on one of the cool things about being the President of the United States. But I don’t know that anyone’s looking forward to being in the same room as him.

Throughout his entire first-term in the White House, Trump skipped the Washington tradition every year.
