Witness to McKinney Confrontation: ‘No One Was Threatening’ Officer

mckinney witnessA McKinney, Texas police officer was suspended after video emerged of him pulling his weapon on a group of teenagers at a community pool. The fact that the confrontation involved multiple black teens set off another national discussion about race and policing, and one of the witnesses to the confrontation spoke out on CNN this afternoon.

Jahda Bakari told Jake Tapper a pool worker had confronted them about a pool card policy that she said is never really enforced. And apparently all the questions and scolding was being directed at the African-Americans at the pool, and not the white people.

Her father added that the police “tirades” were only directed to the black people present.

Bakari said there was a lot of yelling and cursing from the people in the area, and people got angry at the officer in question, but “no one was threatening” him.
