Wolf Blitzer Confronts WH Spox: Does Trump Still Think Latest Travel Ban’s Too Politically Correct?
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer spoke with White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah earlier tonight over the Supreme Court ruling in favor of the travel ban.
As Blitzer noted, the President himself criticized the DOJ last year over the “politically correct version” of the ban:
The Justice Dept. should have stayed with the original Travel Ban, not the watered down, politically correct version they submitted to S.C.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 5, 2017
Blitzer asked Shah if the President still thinks that.
Shah said, “I haven’t asked him that.”
He defended the way the Trump administration acted and said their focus has been on national security. Blitzer brought up how the original one was targeted at Muslim-majority nations, asking if the President still supports that original version.
Trump, of course, famously called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States,” and Blitzer asked Shah, “Does the President still support banning all Muslims from the United States?”
“Of course not,” Shah said.
