Wolf Blitzer to Kimmel: ‘Very Mad’ When Trump Calls The Media ‘Enemy of the People’

On Monday night, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer weighed in on President Donald Trump‘s hostile rhetoric towards the press.

Blitzer began by telling Jimmy Kimmel that it’s “very concerning” and “worrisome” how Trump goes after the media.

“Does it ever make you mad?” Kimmel asked.

“Yes, it makes me very mad,” Blitzer responded. “It makes me very upset to see- you know, when he says ‘Fake News’ and we’re the worst and points to the journalists at these events… we’re not the enemy of the people.”

The Situation Room host told Kimmel that was “worries” him the most is that Trump’s rhetoric towards the press “gives encouragement” to dictators to “go after a free press.”

“We as journalists at CNN and other news organizations who risk their lives everyday to get the story, to be responsible, and to do it in a fair way,” Blitzer said. “And for the president to belittle us, that’s an awful, awful situation. And very, very dangerous.

Kimmel then weighed in, saying it’s “totally irresponsible” of Trump to attack the press at rallies, especially those who are there covering the event.

“We got to get rid of him, right?!?” Kimmel asked Blitzer.

Blitzer chuckled, but didn’t exactly answer the question.

“We have to convince him to stop talking right now because it’s really, really a dangerous situation,” Blitzer continued. “It’s an awful situation and I hope he stops doing it.”

“I’m sure he’ll see the error of his ways,” Kimmel sarcastically reacted.
