Woman With Gun Prompts Evacuation Of WSOC-TV Station

A woman with a gun barricaded herself this evening inside the lobby of ABC affiliate WSOC-TV’s studio in Charlotte, N.C. The building has been been evacuated and the station’s 5 P.M. newscast was suspended, with the channel briefly broadcasting commercials before going black.

According to WIS News 10, at least one shot was fired and a woman was taken into custody by authorities at approximately 5:40 P.M.

It would appear that Twitter acted as the conduit between those impacted by the evacuation and the outside world, with anchor Blair Miller informing her followers that a “distraught woman” with a gun was in the building lobby.
