‘Won’t a Terrorist Just Lie?’ Stephanopoulos Confronts Carson on Refugee Monitoring

stephanopoulos carsonThis Week‘s George Stephanopoulos confronted Ben Carson this morning about how he would want to screen and monitor refugees coming into the United States. Carson has made it clear he does not support Trump’s Muslim entry ban, but said he does “understand the concept of not letting people in.”

Carson said he’s “not talking about following them around with the FBI,” just generally knowing what they are doing.

Stepanopoulos countered, “But won’t a terrorist just lie?”

Carson said “we’re gonna have to be a little smarter” and dismissively said “give me a break” to the idea that people will just be asking things like “Are you a terrorist?” or “Are you making a bomb?”

Stephanopoulos also put Carson on the spot about his criticism that Islam is not consistent with the Constitution.
