Trump Campaign is Now Using ‘Free Thinking’ Kanye West to Hawk MAGA Hats

President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign is monetizing Kanye West’s apparent love for Make America Great Again merchandise.
A day after the rapper posted a photo of himself wearing the famous red MAGA hat on Twitter, the campaign released a mass text to subscribers advertising the campaign gear.
“DON’T BE SILENCED,” the message begins in bold, reflecting West’s Twitter storm a day prior. “Group think is a mandate in today’s society and when a free thinker like Kanye West speaks truth, they attack him,” it continues.
“Do not let them silence you. Get your red MAGA hat today.”
West posted multiple photos on Twitter Wednesday showing off his own MAGA hat, writing “my MAGA hat is signed” and adding 30 fire emojis in one post. He’s also announced renewed plans to run for the White House — this time in 2024, supposedly after Trump serves a two-term presidency — as well as revealed an appreciation for conservative ideologies.

The Trump campaign latching onto West’s Twitter rants in an apparent effort to sell merchandise is baffling, yet entirely unsurprising. The campaign has also attempted to sell merchandise after Trump wore his campaign gear while visiting Hurricane survivors last year, including photos of the president wearing his MAGA hat while visiting impacted regions.
