Anthony Fauci Recalls Trump Cursing Out ‘That F**ker’ Biden In ‘Unnerving’ Last Conversation With President

Former President Donald Trump cursed out “that fucker” Joe Biden and promised to “kick his fucking ass” in what was then the upcoming 2020 presidential election during what Dr. Anthony Fauci called an “unnerving” final phone conversation.

Fauci appeared on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Live on Monday night for a ranging interview ahead of the release of his new book on Tuesday, titled On Call: A Doctor’s Journey in Public Service.

The book details his decades work as a leading infectious disease expert, serving under seven presidents through multiple historic crises, however host Rachel Maddow was keen to focus on his time as the face of the U.S. government’s Covid-19 response.

Maddow read an excerpt from the book:

By this time, the virus had infected more than 9 million Americans and killed 230,000. New daily cases were hitting record highs. But out on the campaign trail, Donald Trump insisted, ‘We’re turning the corner. We’re turning the corner. We’re rounding the curve. We will vanquish the virus.’

‘Everybody wants me to fire you,’ the president said to me during [a] call [that day], ‘but I’m not going to fire you. You have too illustrious a career, but you have to be positive. The country cannot stay locked down. You have got to give them hope.’

‘I like you but so many people, not only in the White House but throughout the country hate you because of what you are doing. I’m going to win this fucking election by a landslide,
just wait and see. I always did things my way, and I always win no matter what all these other fucking people think. And that fucker Biden, he’s so fucking stupid. I’m going to kick his fucking ass in this election.’

Maddow turned to her guest; “Dr. Fauci, getting that call a few days before the election, which he did not win, I know that by this point you had quite a lot of interaction with President Trump but it does seem like that interaction unnerved you a little bit?”

Fauci replied: “You know, it did. It’s almost as if he was talking past me, like he was just emoting… It was a little incongruous because he ended it by saying take care, see you soon, something like that. I wasn’t quite sure.

He continued: “It was unnerving. Even though you’re convinced you’re doing the right thing, which I had been… just level with the American public… it is not a pleasant thing to have the President of the United States when you have such a great deal of respect for the presidency of the United States, get on the phone and scream at you the way he did. So that was very tough.”
