Biden Camp Calls Trump ‘Convicted Felon’ In First Fundraising Email After Bombshell Guilty Verdict — Biden Calls Him ‘This Guy’

President Joe Biden’s campaign called ex-President Donald Trump a “convicted felon” in a fundraising email following Trump’s bombshell guilty verdict — while Biden referred to him as “this guy.”
Thursday was a historic day, as the jury in the Stormy Daniels hush money-election interference trial returned their verdict after two days and just a little over 9 hours of active deliberations.
With “guilty” verdicts on all 34 felony counts, that New York jury turned Trump into the first ex-president to become a convicted felon — and the first presumptive presidential nominee to earn that distinction.
One pre-verdict question was answered Thursday: whether or not the campaign would brand Trump a “convicted felon” following a conviction.
The answer? Kinda.
The campaign’s first statement following the verdict did contain a reference to “convicted felon” Trump — a somewhat oblique one. The statement, from Biden-Harris 2024 Communications Director Michael Tyler, said that “Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president”:
“In New York today, we saw that no one is above the law.
“Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain. But today’s verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality. There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box. Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.
“The threat Trump poses to our democracy has never been greater. He is running an increasingly unhinged campaign of revenge and retribution, pledging to be a dictator ‘on day one’ and calling for our Constitution to be ‘terminated’ so he can regain and keep power. A second Trump term means chaos, ripping away Americans’ freedoms and fomenting political violence – and the American people will reject it this November.”
The phrase was repeated in the campaign’s first fundraising email shortly after the verdict:
Here is the truth: Despite a jury finding Donald Trump guilty yesterday, there is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: At the ballot box.
Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.
But there is one other certainty — as you read this, Donald Trump’s supporters are fired up and likely setting fundraising records for his campaign.
That’s money he will use to try to get back into the White House to carry out his threats of revenge and retribution against his political opponents.
So while the MAGA Right comes to the aid of Trump, Joe Biden — and those who care about democracy — need you.
If you have been waiting for the perfect time to make your first donation to Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, we’re here to tell you today is the day
And in another fundraising email in President Biden’s voice, Trump is referred to as “this guy” in a plea to help ” keep this guy out of the White House once and for all”:
There’s only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: At the ballot box.
You know that I hate to ask, but there couldn’t be a more important moment for you to make another donation to keep this guy out of the White House once and for all.
Trump is holding a press conference Friday morning.
