Billionaire Elon Musk vowed to help Gaza citizens with his Starlink satellite service as the region remains without internet due to the war.

Amid an ongoing ground invasion by Israel, Gaza citizens have been unable to communicate for assistance or with their family members by phone. Starlink helps Ukraine with technology services despite its ongoing war with Russia.

The SpaceX CEO said on Saturday that the company will bring “connectivity” to Gaza by providing access to internationally recognized aid organizations.

The commitment came in response to a tweet Musk made with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in which she criticized Israel for cutting off communications in the area ahead of the ground invasion to limit the ability of Hamas terrorists to organize and attack.

“Cutting off all communication to a population of 2.2 million is unacceptable,” AOC wrote. “Journalists, medical professionals, humanitarian efforts, and innocents are all endangered. I do not know how such an act can be defended.”

“The United States has historically denounced this practice,” she added.

Musk responded to that tweet, writing that “”Starlink will support connectivity to internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza. [ComStar].”

The conflict between the militant group and Israel began when Hamas launched a surprise attack against the country earlier this month, killing, torturing and capturing civilians. Israel has responded by cutting off food, power, and water to Gaza as well as by launching airstrikes.

Hamas initial attacked led to the deaths of over 1,400 people along with the capturing of approximately 200 hostages. Missiles and rockets have been launched into civilian areas of Israel since that initial terror attack, sometimes forcing international journalists to take cover as Hamas does not attempt to avoid striking members of the press at all. A spokesman for Hamas fled an interview for being asked about the group’s atrocities this week.
