Fox News Anchor Laughs As He Reminds GOP Rep ‘Elon Musk Spent $25M Of His Own Money — And Lost’

Fox News anchor John Roberts let out a guffaw when he reminded Rep. Lisa McLain (R-MI) that Elon Musk spent “$25 million of his own money” to lose a key judicial race.

Judge Susan Crawford beat Judge Brad Schimel by a wide margin in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race on Tuesday night, despite Elon Musk’s $19-million-plus cash dump and President Donald Trump’s vehement support.

Democrats also cut the Trump margin in half in a pair of special elections they lost in Florida, spending $20 million in the process.

On Wednesday afternoon’s edition of Fox News Channel’s America Reports, Rep. McLain taunted Democrats fr spending so much only to lose, which prompted the rejoinder from Roberts:

JOHN ROBERTS: I want to ask you, Congresswoman, as the House GOP chair, about the results of these elections yesterday.

You’ve extended, it appears, the margins in the House. It’ll be 220 to 213 when these new members get sworn in.

The margins, though, were smaller than they were in November. That might be expected for a special election.

But Democrats are looking at this and they’re licking their chops, and they see what happened in Wisconsin with the Supreme Court. And they’re thinking that things might look pretty good for November of 2026.

What are you thinking?

REP. LISA MCLAIN: Well, I would, I’d rather be us than them. Look at what they did in those two seats in Florida. They spent over $20 million to lose. You can talk about the margins, but they still lost by double digits and it cost them $20,000,000. I’ll take that all day long and twice on Tuesday. Keep pouring that dark money in and keep losing because that’s what’s gonna happen.

JOHN ROBERTS: Well, the flip side of that coin is Elon Musk put $25 million of his own money into the Supreme Court contest in Wisconsin and lost. (LAUGHS) So–.

REP. LISA MCLAIN: Too little too late. Too little, too late. Elon didn’t come– in fairness. Elon didn’ come in until the last minute.

I wish we could have had that back. We could have gotten in a lot earlier. But at the end of the day, we got the W and that’s what’s the most important.

And special elections are special for a reason. Typically, we have lower turnout in special elections.

JOHN ROBERTS: Sure.

REP. LISA MCLAIN: But I will get the Democrats credit. They were organized and they spent a ton of money to lose those seats.

JOHN ROBERTS: All right.
