Kamala Harris Claims ‘A Lot’ Of Trump Voters Are Dumping Him Over Divisive Rants — To ‘Chart A New Way Forward’ With Her
Vice President Kamala Harris said “a lot” of people who voted for former President Donald Trump are dumping him to “chart a new way forward” by voting for Harriz-Walz.
The VP has earned endorsements from many prominent former supporters of Trump, as well as some members of Trump’s first-term administration and scores of Republicans.
On Tuesday night’s edition of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the VP sat with host Stephen Colbert for several segments, during which Colbert asked about her abbreviated and unprecedented campaign.
Harris said her interactions with voters lead her to believe that even many of Trump’s former supporters are ready “to turn the page”:
STEPHEN COLBERT: Your your campaign is one of the shortest in modern history.
KAMALA HARRIS: Yes.
STEPHEN COLBERT: Does it feel short?
KAMALA HARRIS: It’s definitely been a whirlwind. I mean, it’s I think somewhere around 70 days that we’ve been in it. And and so there’s a lot of catching up to do.
You know, my opponent, the former president, has been running since 2020. And–.
STEPHEN COLBERT: He literally filed like, the day after the election.
KAMALA HARRIS: Yeah, right. So we have a lot of time to make up for. But I’m, you know, I’m I’m traveling around the country. I’m spending a lot of time talking with folks, listening to folks. And the one thing I can report back from the field, if you will, is that people are exhausted by that old, tired playbook of Donald Trump’s. They really are.
CROWD: (APPLAUSE)
KAMALA HARRIS: Even if they voted for him in the past, there are a lot of folks who are just saying, you know, enough of the rhetoric that’s about trying to divide the country and have Americans point their fingers at each other.
You know, folks ready to turn the page, It’s like, let’s chart a new way forward.
And what I’m saying is that a lot of Americans, regardless of their party, Republicans, Democrats, independents, they’re ready for a new generation of leadership that is about solutions and common sense and finding common ground. And and that is what I am offering.
