Trump Hit With Absolutely Brutal Headline as He Brags About Golf to Reporters Amid Stock Market Plunge

President Donald Trump was hit with an absolutely brutal headline after he bragged to reporters about his golf game amid a disastrous tariff-fueled stock market dive.

The stock market dropped after Trump announced his tariff program last week, and continued to sink when China announced reciprocal tariffs. At Friday’s closing bell, the Dow was down another 2200 points.

At the same time, Trump took heavy criticism for blowing off the dignified transfer ceremony for American soldiers killed in a training exercise in Lithuania in favor of a golf tournament.

On Saturday, the White House released a statement on the tournament, which read “The President won his second round matchup of the Senior Club Championship today in Jupiter, FL, and advances to the Championship Round tomorrow.”

When Trump emerged into the press cabin aboard Air Force One Sunday, Daily Mail pool reporter Emily Goodin followed up by asking how Trump did in the next round:

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Are there any questions?

EMILY GOODIN: How was the Golf Tournament?

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Very good. Because I won. (LAUGHTER) It’s good to win. You heard I won, right? Did you hear I won?

EMILY GOODIN: What was your score?

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Just back it up. There. I won!

ANNMARIE HORDERN: What’s your handicap these days?

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I like to win. Very low. I have a very low handicap.

The exchange earned Trump a brutal headline from the Politico Playbook newsletter: “Golfing while the world burns”:

HOW LOW CAN IT GO? President Donald Trump’s astonishing, tariff-induced market meltdown is still only headed in one direction — and fears are growing about how big this crash could become. Asian stock markets suffered further spectacular losses overnight, in some cases so large they triggered built-in “circuit-breakers” which temporarily halt trading to prevent a wider collapse. The S&P Futures markets also tumbled further yesterday, giving a pretty clear indication of what traders believe is coming when the New York Stock Exchange reopens at 9.30 a.m. It’s hard to think of any example in modern U.S. history when the actions of a president have directly triggered something like this.

So is Trump panicking? As if. Here he is boasting about winning a golf tournament at his luxury resort in Florida this weekend.
