Ukraine’s Ambassador to U.S. Goes Viral Over Reaction to White House Blowup: ‘Very Symbolic’

Oksana Markarova, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, went viral Friday for her reaction to the internationally televised fracas between her boss and the Trump administration.

As President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance laid into Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Markova put her head down and covered one side of her face.

In an image that went viral on cable news and social media, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth looked on as Trump and Vance berated Ukraine’s president.

Just to his left, Markova appeared to be on an emotional rollercoaster:

Her reaction to the tension that ultimately resulted in Trump asking Zelensky to leave went viral:

Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum aired the image on Friday’s edition of The Story during an interview with retired Gen. Jack Keane.

She commented, “Let’s pull up this image that we just got from the other side of the room here, and we are told the woman you see with her hand at her head is the ambassador of Ukraine as this is unfolding. And I gotta believe – I imagine when Zelensky got into the back of the car he is thinking, ‘Man, I just completely blew that. That was a big mistake.'”

In a statement on Truth Social after Zelensky left the White House, Trump said:

We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure. It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.
