Vogue Puts Kamala Harris On its Cover for Final Pre-Election Day Issue: ‘Candidate Of Our Times’

Vogue magazine spotlighted Vice President Kamala Harris by featuring her on the cover of the October edition, the last before election day, hailing the Democratic nominee as the “candidate for our times.”

The feature by the magazine, which publicly endorsed Harris in July, comes as a publicity boost in the pivotal final moments in her presidential campaign, the announcement noting: “Rarely are individuals summoned for acts of national rescue.”

The image shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, is accompanied by a lengthy cover story, for which Harris was interviewed, and highlights Harris’s rise to the forefront of politics.

Harris spoke to Vogue writer Nathan Heller about policy issues like the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade as part of expressing her goal to restore “the freedoms that have been taken away.”

She also discussed foreign policy challenges, asserting that the U.S. role is to create “incentives for de-escalation and a ‘pathway’ for stability” in conflict zones and her domestic policy ambition for an “Opportunity Economy” through small business support.

Heller also examined how the vice president has garnered support from both sides of the political aisle, beginning with former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney’s endorsement.

As the race enters its last weeks, Vogue’s feature comes as a final push for its favored candidate in a bid to carry her profile across the country.
