‘We Must Stop the War’: Israeli Man Whose Parents Were Killed By Hamas Makes Plea Through Tears
An Israeli man whose parents were murdered by Hamas made a plea during an interview on the BBC: “We must do everything to stop the war.”
Since the terrorist attacks by Hamas on October 7, which killed more than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, Israel Defense Forces have responded with airstrikes in Gaza, with an impending ground offensive in the works. The bombing campaign has killed at least 2,215 people in Gaza so far, according to local authorities.
In a stunning interview with BBC presenter Helena Humphrey, Maoz Inon expressed sadness that went beyond just the grief he felt for his parents and the other Israeli victims of Hamas’ attacks. Humphrey asked Inon: “What are your thoughts on the military response that we’ve seen from Israel this past week?”
He replied:
Helena, I must tell you that I’m not crying for my parents. I’m crying for those who are going to lose their life in this war. We must stop the war. The war is not the answer. And I beg you, I beg all the viewers and listeners to do everything in your, in their, in your power to put pressure over everyone that is relevant to stop the war immediately, to freeze the situation.
In our family, we are not seeking revenge, a revenge. Revenge will just lead to more suffering and to more casualties. And even though it’s the most horrible day, it was the most horrible loss in lives in Israel since the foundation of the country. And I’m afraid that the numbers can be much bigger. An enormous number. And we must do everything to stop the war. And I’m afraid for the thought there is for the civilians from both sides, in the Gaza, from Gaza, and in Israel that will pay in their life. And this is why I am crying, and this is why it was so important to me in this very hard time to go into this interview and to cry to them both: Stop the war. Please. Just stop the war.
