After being berated for not thanking President Donald Trump enough, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took to social media to thank the world leaders who supported him after his clash in the Oval Office.
Zelensky on Friday joined Trump in the White House to discuss the U.S.’s support of Ukraine during its war with Russia. When that meeting was opened up to media, Trump and Vice President JD Vance took exception to Zelensky mentioning the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin had violated the terms of a previous agreement. Vance called it “disrespectful,” and the exchange soon unraveled into a full-blown shouting match between the two presidents.
Trump called off the press conference scheduled for after the meeting and asked Zelensky to leave the White House. An agreement on a deal between their countries had not been reached.
About an hour later, Zelensky posted a tweet thanking “POTUS, Congress, and the American people.”
In response to the contentious meeting, world leaders from numerous countries voiced their support on X/Twitter. Zelensky went out of his way to thank them all.
