A spokesperson for the family of Seth Rich strongly denied reports earlier on Tuesday that the murdered DNC staffer had contact with Wikileaks.

The “private investigator” singled out by the spokesperson is Rod Wheeler, a former D.C. police homicide detective featured in the Tuesday Fox and Friends segment revealing new details about Rich’s purported communications with the controversial website. The statement also claimed that a third party paid for Wheeler’s investigation.
Earlier in 2017, D.C. Fox affiliate WTTG ran a report on the investigation into the DNC staffer’s death that spotlighted earlier conspiracy theories surrounding his death.
