A Statue of a Urinating Dog Was Placed Next to the ‘Fearless Girl’ Statue

Remember the Fearless Girl statue? You know, the one staring down the Wall Street bull? Well, it’s back in the news because of another statue that was set up right next to it.

The statue was of a dog in the middle of taking a piss:

The artist, Alex Gardega, told NBC News that he’s not “not seething or angry and certainly not anti-feminist,” but he does take issue with Fearless Girl in this regard:

“That piece, [‘Fearless Girl’] was not made by some individual artist making a statement,” Gardega said. “It was made by a billion dollar financial firm trying to promote an index fund. It is advertising/promotion in the guise of art. That was my only point.”

He also empathizes with Arturo Di Modica, the artist behind the famous “Charging Bull,” who recently said that he’s unhappy about Fearless Girl changing the meaning of his work.

Gardega has since removed the statue.
