ABC News Accidentally Reports Death of Melissa Rivers

In its rush to break the news of Joan Rivers’ passing Thursday afternoon, ABC News briefly reported on its website that Melissa Rivers, the comedian’s daughter had died:

Shortly after, the site corrected the error and posted the correct name and photo on its homepage:

Mediaite spoke to a spokesperson for ABC News who said the error only appeared on the website for a few minutes before it was corrected.

To clarify for anyone who is confused, Melissa Rivers is 46 and still very much alive.
