Model and Actress Emily Ratajkowski Arrested in DC While Protesting Kavanaugh

Actress and supermodel Emily Ratajkowski said she was arrested while protesting the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, as she and hundreds of other activists took to the streets of Washington, D.C. today to voice their opposition against the Supreme Court justice nominee who has been accused of sexual assault.

“Today I was arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault,” Ratajkowski wrote on an Instagram post of her protesting on Capitol Hill. “Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power. Kavanaugh’s confirmation as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States is a message to women in this country that they do not matter. I demand a government that acknowledges, respects and supports women as much as it does men.”

Republican Senators Jeff Flake and Susan Collins — who have been viewed as swing voters on the nomination — both appear to be inching toward a yes vote on Kavanaugh after the FBI released their investigation into the allegations, which has led many progressive activists to ramp up their efforts in opposing him. This energy manifested itself into protests in front of the Supreme Court and Capitol Building today.

Comedian Amy Schumer was also reportedly detained while protesting Kavanaugh this afternoon.
