Ocasio-Cortez Gives Brutally Awkward Explanation of ‘Occupied’ Palestine
New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took a ton of heat for tripping up on a question about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which underscored her lack of understanding about the situation.
“The occupation of Palestine” by Israel is an “increasing crisis of humanitarian condition,” Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview on PBS’s Firing Line, in a moment that is spreading fast online Monday.
When pressed to explain her own statement, Ocasio-Cortez stumbled through a painfully awkward few moments before saying, “I’m not the expert on geopolitics on this issue.”
Her stuttering, stumbling answer caught the attention of multiple conservative pundits on Twitter, who bashed her for not knowing what she didn’t know:
