American Eyewitness Describes Scene of Carnage in Nice: ‘There Were Bodies Everywhere’

WitnessAn American eyewitness to the attack in Nice, France spoke to CNN’s Anderson Cooper Thursday evening and described a scene of horror at the site where a large truck rammed into a group of pedestrians gathered to celebrate Bastille Day.

Dominique Molina, speaking by phone, said the truck was going about 20 to 30 miles per hour when it plowed into pedestrians. “There’s just no way it was an accident,” she said.

Molina, who witnessed the event with her husband and teenage child, described the scene as “horrific” and said, “It’s just not something you’re supposed to see at all.”

“The truck proceded to run people over, and the sounds were really horrific. You could hear banging sounds as the truck drove over people and things.”

Once the truck made a turn and fell out of view, she said they heard a “barrage of gunfire and it sounded like a shooting range.”

“You heard screaming and you’d just see masses of people fleeing, like running away. And within a few moments of the gunfire, everything went very quiet, but very eerily quiet. And then you started hearing, like, wailing and screaming and crying and people seeing the victims on the ground. And family members finding their loved ones dead. And there are bodies everywhere.”
