Anti-Marijuana Ad: Weed Cookies Will Cause Date Rape

In November, Florida will vote on whether to legalize medical marijuana or not, and unsurprisingly, this is a very popular ballot initiative. The opponents of Amendment 2, however, do not want marijuana to be legal. Why? Because according to them, marijuana makes people susceptible to rape. And people can put marijuana into baked goods. So really, they’re stopping the women of Florida from ingesting rape cakes.

No joke, this is an actual ad that advocacy group Vote No on Amendment 2 handed out (via io9):

The Department of Health and Human Services does not classify marijuana as a date rape drug, adding that while “any drug that can affect judgment and behavior can put a person at risk for unwanted or risky sexual activity,” the most popular drug used for date rape is also the most legal:

Alcohol is the drug most commonly used to help commit sexual assault. When a person drinks too much alcohol:

It’s harder to think clearly.
It’s harder to set limits and make good choices.
It’s harder to tell when a situation could be dangerous.
It’s harder to say “no” to sexual advances.
It’s harder to fight back if a sexual assault occurs.
It’s possible to blackout and to have memory loss.

Alcohol is also extremely popular in Florida, but as of publication, we have not seen anyone in the state of Florida mount a campaign against “rape juice.”
