Anti-Trump Activist Destiny Defends Mocking Charlie Kirk Widow In Heated Hit With Young Turks Host
Anti-Trump streamer Steven Bonnell, aka Destiny, defended mocking recently-widowed Erika Kirk amid the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk killing in a heated exchange with The Young Turks co-host Ana Kasparian.
The killing of Charlie Kirk and the manhunt that ended in the arrest of suspect Tyler Robinson have dominated the news media since the shooting unfolded live last Wednesday. Amid a tsunami of commentary on the killing, Destiny has maintained a steady stream of provocation that includes mocking Mrs. Kirk’s tearful address and her social media posts.
In one post, he mocked the widow for “tagging” her late husband in a photo of his coffin, and accused her of “fake crying” in another.
On Monday’s episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Destiny defended the mockery as Kasparian blasted him, asking “What’s wrong with you?”:
DESTINY: The sick thing is weaponizing a widow’s grief to try to do recruitment for your political party. That’s probably one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen!
She’s showing up in emails for recruitment drives for TPUSA 24-.
ANA KASPARIAN: What would you expect, though, Destiny? What did you think the outcome would be?
(CROSSTALK)
ANA KASPARIAN: What did you think the outcome was, and by the way, really, your behavior, hold on. Hey! How about take it easy on the adderall, take it easy on the adderal, and let me answer the question that Piers asked me?
DESTINY: You must have been really bullied today I guess.
PIERS MORGAN: Let her speak please!
ANA KASPARIAN: My behavior is not reliant on how anyone else behaves. Every morning I wake up and I make decisions about how I choose to react or respond to things. I don’t wake up in the morning, check what Donald Trump has to say and then base my own personal behavior on his behavior.
I agree with you in that it would be very helpful to have the leader of this want to turn the temperature down, and he hasn’t done that. I agree with you on that, but that doesn’t change the way I choose to respond to what’s going on.
The idea of mocking a woman who is now a widow with two young children who witnessed her husband get shot in the neck and bleed out to death!
How could you mock that? What is wrong with you? I just don’t understand it. That’s it, I don’t under stand it. I don’t understand you Destiny. You have so much hatred in your heart and at the same time you judge others as hateful.
DESTINY: It’s such a simple thing, if you’re going to weaponize somebody’s grief against the other party, then of course people have a right to fight back against it.
I think that she has every right to grieve in whatever way she wants, but when that grief is gonna be weaponized to do recruitment, political recruitment, and further radicalization of the other side, then, of course, you not only have the ability to market, I think you have the obligation to mock it. It’s insane.
ANA KASPARIAN: Let me understand, let me understand your argument. So since others are using her grief to politically recruit, you think that it’s okay to mock her specifically.
DESTINY: Since others are using her grief? She’s the one who gave a 17 minute speech on TV where she talked about good versus evil. She’s one showing up in TPUSA ads to one or two days after.
ANA KASPARIAN: Let me explain something to you. If someone assassinated my husband, if someone assassinate my husband I would not be able to have the level of composure she had during that speech. I would be out for blood!
I understand why she’s angry and why she said the things that she said. Okay, you need to understand what being a human is, what it’s like to actually lose someone that you love, that you chose to spend your life with, that you choose to raise children with. A person who was violently and viciously assassinated like that. This is why I’ve moved away from identifying as a Democrat– because people like you are so embarrassing on the left!.
DESTINY: That’s fine, and when something, yeah, I know, yes, cuz you got bullied online, it’s so funny. It’s so funy that you just said that you don’t think about how other people act to define your behavior. Your entire political ideology now is somehow defined by the people that were mean to you on Twitter. No it’s not! I understood what the flaws on the left happen to be–
If somebody cares about somebody who’s grieving, then you tell that person- Maybe you should step back for a couple of weeks. No, no, it’s not about the way I get treated. You don’t say, hey, let’s throw a camera in front of you and have you do mass recruitment for our political party. Well, everyone over here is calling for civil war. It’s unhinged! When you’ve got people like Matt Walsh in The Daily Wire and the President of the United States calling for Civil War?
ANA KASPARIAN: Listen, listen, we’re talking to a guy who said he’d be okay with his own parents getting killed if they went to that Trump rally where that assassination attempt happened.
There’s no reasoning with you, Destiny. There’s not, there’s no reason with you.
DESTINY: And we’re talking to a woman who went on and did the whole conservative media outlet with Tucker Carlson and Glenn Beck and had nothing bad to say whatsoever. I know where your bread is buttered–.
