Armstrong Williams Disputes Report That Carson Has Officially Accepted HUD Secretary Role
Ben Carson has not formally accepted the role of Housing and Urban Development Secretary in the Donald Trump administration, despite a new report to the contrary.
Trump tweeted earlier today that he’s considering Carson for the role, and Carson hinted at a big announcement coming.
Well, the Wall Street Journal reports now that Carson spokesman Armstrong Williams is confirming that Trump’s former GOP primary rival has accepted the position.
A few days ago, Williams said that Carson was leaning against accepting a Cabinet post because he “feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency.”
Well, Williams quickly clarified his remarks to reporters:
Armstrong Williams tells me WSJ report that Carson has accepted HUD secretary position is NOT true.

"Dr. Carson is considering the possibility of serving in his cabinet" and will mull the HUD offer over Thanksgiving, Williams said https://t.co/AYaeD5J9Xk

Armstrong Williams just told me has been misquoted, that Carson is taking through Thanksgiving to decide whether to accept HUD position.

The Journal‘s report says specifically that Armstrong said Carson was offered the position and “accepted” it.
