Asia Argento Lambastes NBC News For Weinstein Story: ‘The Sociopath Will Lie’

Actress Asia Argento earned praise over the weekend for blistering remarks she made at Cannes about disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Argento, who was allegedly raped by the producer, called Cannes his “hunting ground” in a fiery address and warned other abusers at the festival who have yet to face a reckoning of their own that their day is coming.
NBC News published an article about Argento’s appearance at Cannes, which included the following statement from one of Weinstein’s attorneys:
“Mr. Weinstein and Ms. Argento had a consensual relationship; Ms. Argento then starred in Mr. Weinstein’s film B. Monkey in 1998, in which Argento was excellent, and she herself said was a fantastic role for her. After that, she wrote a script for Mr. Weinstein about Italian director Vittorio De Sica that he wishes could have been produced. This is clearly a painful moment for Ms. Argento, but it is a false narrative. Harvey has only respect for her and wishes her well.”
Argento took exception to Weinstein calling her relationship with him “consensual,” writing “You don’t ask a sociopath to comment, because the sociopath will lie.”
And she let them have it.
Note to media: stop asking Spa Boy or his representatives for ‘comment’ every time you write an article about me or my fellow survivors. Rape and sexual assault is the only violent crime where the media plays this stupid charade. pic.twitter.com/4FbXnHVMr8

You don’t ask a sociopath to comment, because the sociopath will lie. Consensual relationship, my ass. I was raped by this monster, dammit. AFTER I had shot B. Monkey. Stalked and sexually-harassed for years. Enough! #BelieveWomen pic.twitter.com/SjozjN44OP

She also called out the network for not running Ronan Farrow‘s bombshell report, which she was a part of.
Note to @NBCNews: perhaps you should be investigating why NBC news shut down @RonanFarrow’s story, in spite of overwhelming evidence. pic.twitter.com/Z363NeXzKZ

Farrow, who has emerged as one of the leading journalists of the #MeToo movement — and has a Pulitzer to show for it — offered his Weinstein expose to NBC, where he was employed, but the outlet passed. The report, which rocked Hollywood and help propel the movement, was eventually published in the New Yorker.
