At Least 16 People Killed in Texas Hot Air Balloon Crash
At least 16 people were killed today after a hot air balloon crashed in Texas.
According to ABC News, the balloon caught fire while in mid-air and crashed into the ground in a pasture in Central Texas.
The local sheriff’s office said there doesn’t appear to be any survivors, saying in a statement, “Investigators are determining the number and the identities of victims at this time.”
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are involved with the investigation into what went wrong.
The FAA said, “The FAA and NTSB do not release the names of pilots or passengers. Names will be released by local officials after relatives have been notified.”
