Bill O’Reilly Once Wrote About Porn During His College Days

Everybody has to start somewhere! That includes Bill O’Reilly

Back in 1974 while he was earning his M.A. at Boston University, O’Reilly found himself writing for The Boston Phoenix on occasion.  The first occasion was when Deep Throat director Gerard Damiano came to BU to show one of his “porno-flic” films to an auditorium of curious students and one future cable news pundit.

In his review of the screening O’Reilly keeps the details of the film and his interview with Damiano fairly PG-13, but does take this opportunity to display his love of five-dollar words by dropping phrases like, “grumous haze” and “coiffed graying pompadour”.

After reading O’Reilly’s interview with Damiano it’s difficult to decide if this is a window into Bill’s seedy side, or whether his mature handling of the subject matter actually shows the opposite — a 20-something journalist who can interview the director of Deep Throat and keep the focus on the issue of big studios vs. independent productions.

As Bill might say, leave your own interpretation in the comment section, if you wish to opine.
