American Airlines became the Internet’s punching bag when it apparently misplaced the prosthetic leg used by a professional dancer who survived the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.

American Airlines quickly responded, and the two accounts continued the conversation via DM.
@AdrianneHaslet We’ll see what we can find out for you. Please follow us and DM the bag file reference number.

Joshua Freed, a spokesperson for the airline, said that they were “terribly sorry” for losing Haslet-Davis’s luggage and were working with her to retrieve it.
Haslet-Davis was injured several at the finish line of the 177th Boston Marathon when two bombs exploded near the finish line. Due to her injuries, the professional dancer lost her lower left leg. She danced again during a TED Conference in 2014, thanks to the help of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab.
The luggage was eventually recovered on Friday afternoon.
