Breaking Bad Actor Running for Albuquerque County Commission
Breaking Bad alum Steven Michael Quezada will be running to take his experience with Albuquerque law enforcement to the next level: a seat on the Bernalillo County Commission.
Quezada achieved international recognition on the show for playing the role of Steven Gomez, who was the second-in-command to DEA agent Hank Schrader, and often assisted him in his pursuit of the meth kingpin known as Heisenberg. Quezada told the Associated Press on Monday that he will make a formal announcement tomorrow.
“I think I bring a new face to the Democratic Party,” said Quezada. “We need to reach out to our young people — the young Chicanos, the young Latinos — and get them involved in this process and let them know this is important.”
Though Quezada became famous through acting, he has been an active participant in New Mexico state politics before. He is a current member of the Albuquerque school board, and has expressed confidence that he can make a difference on issues like the controversial real estate development of the locally-famous Hispanic South Valley.
