BREAKING: Police Report Armed, Dangerous Person on UNC Campus (UPDATED)

An “armed and dangerous person” is reportedly “on or near campus” at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

According to an official alert released by the university, unconfirmed reports suggest that an armed person has been seen near the ROTC building on campus. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, students and others on or near campus began tweeting photos and videos of the campus lock down.

UPDATE–9:25 a.m. ET: UNC lifted its alert status, giving students and those on campus the “all clear.”

Those on campus took notice of the alert’s lifting ahead of the official announcement when police began clearing out.
