Carly Fiorina Again Bizarrely Fawns Over Trump’s Sports Paraphernalia, Really Loves Shaq’s Shoe
Yesterday, former GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina took a meeting at Trump Tower in New York City, one of the more peculiar meetings during this crucial transition period. Fiorina and the President-elect went to battle against one another many times during the primary process last year, with a wide array of insults exchanged between the two.
But now, Trump is just weeks away from becoming our new Commander in Chief, and Fiorina is reportedly in strong consideration for a cabinet position, namely the Director of National Intelligence. Yesterday after her meeting with Trump, Fiorina faced the Fourth Estate in the lobby of Trump Tower, where the world’s media organizations have been glued to catch the next glimpses of who is in and out of meetings with Mr. President-elect.
When she greeted the press however, Fiorina gave Trump praise in a peculiar way, noting, “He has really cool stuff in his office. All of these athletes have given him this really cool memorabilia. I was particularly taken by Shaq O’Neal’s shoe which is huge. I guess it takes a champion to know a champion.”
And again Tuesday while being interviewed on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Fiorina again invoked the shoe of basketball great Shaquille O’Neal, perhaps in an attempt to highlight anything positive about the fact that she now has done an about-face in her support for Trump.
“What was it like when you walked in?” inquired Mika Brzezinski. “How did you all sort of come back together?” she asked after noting the contentious past between the two candidates.
“He is a very gracious and charming man,” Fiorina insisted. “When you walk into his office it’s a very welcoming and warm environment.” Then, while searching for her next thing to say, blurted out, “He has incredible paraphernalia around his office, all these incredible gifts from athletes!”
“I was particular taken by Shaq O’Neal’s shoe, I mean that was unbelievable!”
Morning Joe‘s Joe Scarborough seemed less than enthused in the moment.
After suspending her own presidential campaign, Fiorina supported the candidacy of Texas Senator Ted Cruz in a strong effort to derail Trump’s own ambitions. She said in March:
“There are people in our party who are actually kind of horrified by Donald Trump. I’m one of them… We’re going to have to beat Donald Trump at the ballot box. And the only guy who can beat Donald Trump is Ted Cruz. There are some people in our party saying Donald Trump isn’t so bad … but he’s a deal maker; he can make deals. The truth is Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are two sides of the same coin. They’re not going to reform the system, they are the system.”
…strange bedfellows indeed. Watch above via MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
