CBS Developing Another Twitter-Based Sitcom (Presumably Due To Sins In America’s Past Life)
I blame you, everyone who watched $#*! My Dad Says last Thursday*. After the William Shatner starring sitcom debuted to strong ratings, keeping a large amount of the lead in from Big Bang Theory,** the network announced the development of a show based on the popular Twitter feed @shhdontellsteve. Clearly “popular Twitter feed” has replaced “washed up semi-celebs with drug problems” as the go to premise mine for television shows I can’t understand why otherwise rational people watch.***
The new show, to be titled Shh … Don’t Tell Steve (this time the unnecessary punctuation marks won’t mess with Tivo), will be about “a man who deals with an immature roommate.” Basically it sounds like The Odd Couple if Felix tweeted his anger every time Oscar left a stogie out. In other words, awesome.
So, in a few years, when every new network show is based on some dude’s 140 character ramblings and crossover episodes are replaced with “@ replies,” all of you people who stuck with CBS last Thursday*** will have no one to blame except yourselves.
*Unrelated note: I also have a huge problem with all of you who watched Big Bang Theory over the actually funny Community.
**Seriously, is the idea of nerds living near a hot girl that inherently hilarious?
***Are your remotes broken? You can buy new batteries. I promise.
****Yeah, I know I sound snobby but I really, really love Community.
