Clinton Campaign Says Romanian Hacker’s Claim of Hacking Her Server is ‘Unfathomable’

Following reports from that a Romanian hacker successfully breached Hillary Clinton‘s private email server, the Democratic frontrunner’s campaign released a statement denying the veracity of the hacker’s claims.

“There is absolutely no basis to believe the claims made by this criminal from his prison cell. In addition to the fact he offers no proof to support his claims, his descriptions of Secretary Clinton’s server are inaccurate. It is unfathomable that he would have gained access to her emails and not leaked them the way he did to his other victims,” said a campaign aide, according to the Washington Examiner.

The hacker Marcel Lehel Lazar, known as Guccifer, told Fox News that it had been “easy” to hack into the former Secretary of State’s server, though Fox News said it could not independently verify his claims.
