CNN Accuses Marco Rubio Of Quietly Boycotting Network
According to CNN, Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio has turned down almost daily interview requests from the network for months, even while he continues to appear on rival networks.
“For more than two months, CNN has sent daily interview requests to Marco Rubio,” writes CNN’s Tom Kludt. “And each time, the campaign has passed. Over that same period, every other GOP candidate has given multiple interviews to CNN. Only Rubio has been absent.”
Kludt notes that Rubio’s last appearance on the network was an extremely contentious interview with New Day‘s Chris Cuomo, during which Cuomo accused him of having “backwards-looking” beliefs on abortion and being “out-of-step” with women. Since that August 9 interview, Rubio has not appeared on the network except to participate in the September debate.
During the same time period, Rubio has made appearances on CNBC, ABC News, Fox News, NBC, CBS News, NPR, and even Kentucky Sports Radio. He has also not made any appearances on MSNBC.
It’s worth noting that if the Florida Senator really is boycotting CNN, it didn’t keep him from writing an op-ed for CNN.com during Pope Francis’ visit to the United States.
