CNN Poll: Chris Christie’s Lead Grows Among Possible 2016 GOP Contenders

 

According to a new national poll, Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) is still the early frontrunner among possible 2016 Republican presidential candidates.

The CNN/ORC International poll, conducted by telephone interviews with 843 adult Americans, found that among Republican respondents, a plurality of 24% are “most likely” to support Christie for the candidacy. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) came in second with 13% of respondents. When compared to the last time CNN conducted this poll, Christie’s lead has grown, with candidates like Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) experiencing a decline in popularity:
