Colbert Presents the Most Advanced iPhone Yet: ‘The Next Thing We’re Asking You to Buy!’
Yesterday, Apple made headlines not only for rolling out the design for its iPhone 7, but also for specific features that won’t be included. Namely the headphone jack is disappearing from the newest upgrade. Consequently, “So Long, Jack!” read just about every headline in the blogosphere yesterday.
Inspired by the news out of Cupertino, the Late Show’s Stephen Colbert “unveiled” his own iPhone 7. “Now some companies might stop there,” he said dressed up in his Tim Cook digs. “But we thought, if less is more, how much more… could we less?”
The bit continues with Colbert unveiling various key features that won’t be a part of the iteration of the phone: its fragile glass front? Gone. Battery? Nope.
“Introducing the iPhone 7: a solid chunk of metal,” he says. The service’s “iFriend” feature is really the selling point of Colbert’s big new product, specifically the part where you borrow your iFriend’s iPhone 6 so you can use his headphone jack.
