In a preview of his Face the Nation sit-down tomorrow, Stephen Colbert explains to John Dickerson why Jesus himself would be his dream interview.
Colbert is arguably one of the most famous Catholics in the United States and has talked very openly about his faith. A few months ago, he said that the one question he would ask Pope Francis is “What do you do to get that smile on your face in the morning?”
When Dickerson asked him what he would ask Jesus, Colbert obliged: “Is this all these is? Is it all here or is there something after this?”
He would want to ask Jesus all those burning questions we have about whether there’s life after death, whether being kind and generous in this life leads to rewards in the afterlife, and whether we see our dead loved ones after we die.
Colbert did admit, “I don’t put that much in it anymore. I’m actually much more enjoying being with the people that I’m with now.”
He did say he would also want to ask Jesus how he’s doing for––as Dickerson put it––”an interim grade.”
