Conan vs. Leno, Basterds Style

Art inspires art nowhere more than on the Internet, where mash-ups, reblogs, gifs, and all manner of secondary content are generated daily — and often hilariously — in the little nooks and crannies of the World Wide Web. This one, however, hits the sweet spot, fusing our recent obsession with the late-night wars with one of the hottest movies of awards season — gloriously:

Er, spoiler alert.

It’s been making the rounds for a few days, with various permutations (Team Jacob or Team Edward? etc.) This version comes via meme-incubator Livejournal hub OhNoTheyDidnt but has been snaking across Reddit and Digg and other content hubs for the past week or so. Of course Mediaite has a special affinity for Inglourious Basterds via Bear Jew 5QQer and Aughts columnist Eli Roth, but we’re also fans of stunning double agent Diane Kruger and the extremely non-Landa like Christoph Walz, seen chocking Kruger’s Bridget von Hammersmarck above but seen here humbly accepting his Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. Oscar, watch out. Also, upon rewatch we were reminded that Mike Myers was in the film, and he, of course, is Canadian.
