‘Contrary to the False Theories…’: Clinton Camp Responds to New Email Report
The State Department IG released a report today on Hillary Clinton‘s emails, criticizing her use of a private server and revealing that Clinton wanted it because “I don’t want any risk of the personal being accessible.”
Hillary Clinton spokesmen immediately reacted to the report by saying they’re actually vindicated here:
GOP will attack HRC because she is running for President, but IG report makes clear her personal email use was not unique at State Dept

The campaign then released a full statement saying the report shows Clinton’s use of personal email “was not unique”:

Spokesman Brian Fallon did end up getting into a bit of a back-and-forth on Twitter with a CNN reporter who took issue with their characterization:
Issue for Clinton campaign: Powell used a private email address. Clinton used a private email server. Difference. https://t.co/XyuOGOE191

.@danmericaCNN Only possible difference with server is in terms of security, not recordkeeping, & report says no evidence of successful hack
— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) May 25, 2016
.@brianefallon March: "My predecessors did the same thing." July: "Secy Powell has admitted he did exactly the same thing." Not exactly.

@danmericaCNN With respect to using personal email over govt email. The fact of the server is immaterial to recordkeeping concerns
