Corey Lewandowski on Melania Trump Plagiarism: ‘Staff Should Be Held Accountable’

lewandowskiFormer Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told reporters Tuesday morning that he believed that Trump campaign staffers should be “held accountable” after Melania Trump‘s Monday convention speech appeared to plagiarize from Michelle Obama‘s 2008 DNC speech.

ABC7 Chicago’s Ben Bradley was on the scene and posted video to Twitter:

“I think that Mrs. Trump is a very smart articulate woman,” Lewandowski said after a speech to the Illinois Republican delegation. “Her thoughts are her own thoughts. And I think if it was a mistake, it was at the staff level and staff should be held accountable.”

Lewandowski’s comments mirror those of RNC chief Reince Priebus, who said Tuesday that he would “probably” fire the speechwriter involved if he were in Trump’s shoes.
