Cosby Lawyer: Accuser Filing Suit Tried to Extort Us First
One of the women accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault is filing a lawsuit against him, but Cosby’s lawyer responded this week, blasting the suit and demanding over $30,000 in sanctions.
Judy Huth claims Cosby sexually assaulted her when she was 15 and when he brought her to the Playboy Mansion. Cosby’s lawyer Marty Singer came out swinging in response, claiming that before she filed the suit, Huth tried extorting Cosby.
As Singer explains, she demanded $100,000 from Cosby, then upped it to $200,000, and when Cosby refused to pay her, she went public with the lawsuit.
He also touts how Huth did not file certificates of merit to establish enough cause for a lawsuit in the first place. And furthermore, he argues, there is a real “prejudicial impact” of her identifying Cosby publicly in the suit, and he wants $33,295 leveled in sanctions in addition to a dismissal of the suit.
