New York Times columnist and Bruce Springsteen concert attendee David Brooks sold his D.C. house this weekend — the one with “vast spaces for entertainingCharles Pierce is always mocking — for $4.495 million, $545,000 above what he paid for it just over two years ago.

Is this sale part of an existential quandary over the essential contradictions inherent in the Thought Leader? Is it, as Urban Turf intimates, related to his marriage? Is it just a self-interested postlapsarian creature responding rationally to market incentives? Most important, where will David Brooks not smoke pot now?
