Debate Audience Groans at Dem Candidate for Bringing Up ‘War Against Women’

Might the “war on women” tactic be getting a bit old? When one Democratic candidate invoked it during a debate this week, she was met with laughs and groans from the audience.

This particular line of arguments––the Democratic charge that there is a Republican war on women––has been a rather contentious one in the past two years. When DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and RNC chair Reince Priebus recently faced off over that charge, Priebus argued, “This issue is backfiring on Democrats.”

And that appears to have happened to New York House Democratic candidate Martha Robertson (who’s facing off against GOP incumbent Tom Reed) this week. During the debate this week, she started off a question by saying, “Tom Reed, you’re part of the war against women.”

The audience reacted with groans and chuckles. Probably not what she was expecting.
