Dem. Congressman Gallego: ‘Paul Ryan is a Coward’ Who Wants to ‘Throw Granny Off Medicare’

To those democrats who think House Speaker Paul Ryan might stand up to President-elect Donald Trump, Congressman Ruben Gallego (D-AZ 7) says: Forget it.

Appearing on The Agenda with Ari Rabin-Havt on Friday, the Congressman used some harsh words to describe the Speaker.

“Paul Ryan is a coward,” Gallego said.

Gallego said that Ryan’s only interest is “throw(ing) granny off Mediacare,” and that as long as he gets to do that, he won’t stand in the way of the rest of the President-elect’s agenda.

I talked with some very good progressives who were like, “Well, Paul Ryan is a nice guy. He won’t go let this go too far.” Let me tell you right now, Paul Ryan is a coward. He will do nothing to stop Donald Trump. He will do nothing. He will do anything he can to help Donald Trump as long as he gets to throw granny off Medicare. That’s all he cares about.

And if that means diversion of civil liberties, if that means breaking of traditions – just look at what his actions are so far. That’s what’s going to tell you how Paul Ryan Republicans are going to act. There will be absolute moral cowardice taking place. Until something breaks where the public demands Paul Ryan to actually have a spine and stand up to the excesses of Donald Trump, he will do nothing.
