Don’t Forget Your Luggage: Ben Carson Gets Cabinet Nod as HUD Secretary
Dr. Ben Carson — famed neurosurgeon and former Republican candidate for President — has finally been tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the next secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
In a statement, the soon-to-be 45th President said, “I am thrilled to nominate Dr. Ben Carson as our next Secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.”
The move is the latest in the ongoing theme to emerge from the cabinet appointment conversation: Trump is rewarding loyalty. Carson endorsed Trump in March just one week after suspending his own campaign for the White House.

The role, which is currently occupied by former Mayor of San Antonio Julian Castro, will have Carson focusing on public housing programs and domestic challenges regarding homelessness, housing discrimination, and low-income housing assistance.
Trump tweeted weeks ago, “I am seriously considering Dr. Ben Carson as the head of HUD. I’ve gotten to know him well — he’s a greatly talented person who loves people!”
Just don’t forget your luggage when you pack for D.C., Dr. Carson.
