ESPN’s Dan Le Batard Breaks Down On Air Over Network President’s Resignation
On Monday, we posted about a stunning announcement in the sports media world — the sudden resignation of ESPN president John Skipper, who cited substance abuse issues as the reason for his departure.
ESPN Radio host Dan Le Batard was on the air when the story broke Monday. And having had no time to process it, the host broke down while sharing the news with his audience.

Le Batard’s reaction was similar to those of many others at ESPN and throughout the sports media landscape. Here’s a sampling from Twitter.

John Skipper’s commitment to diversity & inclusion at ESPN has been not only inspiring, but comforting to those of us who want to believe things are headed in the right direction. Deeply saddened to hear of his resignation.

John Skipper is one of the finest people I’ve ever worked for. He’s been incredibly supportive throughout my career at ESPN. This isn’t company-speak. I seriously cannot express how much respect I have for him.

I’m very thankful for John Skipper in my life. He went out of his way to recruit me back to ESPN & hope he can find peace in focusing on himself.
The speed of life today lets us neglect our own physical and mental health now more than ever before.
Get yourself or others help.

John Skipper opened doors and supported many at ESPN because he believed in us. His belief has always been genuine. I’m grateful for his friendship and have so much respect for him. Wishing and praying for only the best for him.
