FAA Begs Drunken Idiots to ‘Leave Your Drone at Home’ for Super Bowl
The Federal Aviation Administration has a polite request of potentially-inebriated NFL fans attending the Superb Owl in Glendale, Arizona this Sunday: don’t bring your remote-control quadrocopter, commonly and perhaps mistakenly known as a drone.
“Going to the big game?” asked an FAA-produced YouTube video. “Have fun. Cheer on your team. But make it a ‘no drone zone.’ Don’t spoil the game.”
Drones have been making occasional and increasingly eerie appearances at sports-related events, hovering above the crowd, perhaps judging. Just this weekend the capacity for the robot bird to wreak havoc was displayed when a drone-type device crashed into the White House lawn after apparently being mispiloted by a drunk government employee. If the shoulda-known-better type can’t keep his drone in check, there may be no hope for NFL fans.
