Florida Shooting Survivor Slams Tomi Lahren: ‘People Are Dead,’ Don’t Tell Me When to Talk About Guns
A survivor of the deadly attack on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida is hitting back at Tomi Lahren over the conservative vlogger’s complaints about how the shooting has led to a national conversation on gun control.
Shortly after the massacre ended in Parkland, Florida, Lahren sent out this tweet in response to the emerging resurgence of the debate on guns.
Can the Left let the families grieve for even 24 hours before they push their anti-gun and anti-gunowner agenda? My goodness. This isn’t about a gun it’s about another lunatic. #FloridaShooting

Lahren’s statement was met with controversy online, and when Parkland student Carly Novell spoke to CNN on Friday, she talked about the tweet and how furious she was that Lahren is politicizing the tragedy in her own way. Novell also said that this is the perfect time to talk about gun control, though its too late for the people who were killed and injured.
“It doesn’t matter what side of the gun control argument you’re on. People are dead,” Novell said. “I don’t think it should be someone else’s choice on when we can talk about it…People are gone, and we have to talk about it because there’s people dead, and there’s been people dead because of this — shooting after shooting.”
Novell acknowledged how passionate people are when it comes to gun ownership, but she continued to argue that making sure people stay safe and alive is a bigger priority than the right to bear arms.
Novell has responded to Lahren directly, making her disagreement abundantly clear.
I was hiding in a closet for 2 hours. It was about guns. You weren’t there, you don’t know how it felt. Guns give these disgusting people the ability to kill other human beings. This IS about guns and this is about all the people who had their life abruptly ended because of guns. https://t.co/XnzhvuN1zd

During a vigil for the victims last night, chants of “no more guns” broke out among the assembled mourners.
